The TotalEnergies rider gave his news after the terrible fall that occurred during the fourth stage of the Tour of the Basque Country on April 4.

A terrible fall marked the 4th stage of the Tour of the Basque Country on April 4, notably involving Remco Evenepoel, Jonas Vingegaard but also Steff Cras. The latter was very seriously affected, suffering from a pneumothorax, rib fractures and two dorsal vertebral fractures. Three weeks after this dramatic accident, the Belgian from the TotalEnergies team spoke to Sporza.

«If I had landed in the concrete block next door, I might not be here anymore. When I found myself on the ground, I couldn’t breathe. I felt like I was suffocating. I thought it was over for me… But after about 30 seconds, the lung opened up a little and I had just enough air to breathe,” explained the 28-year-old athlete who has recovered from his fall even if he is still far from being reunited with his teammates and the competition.

«JI can do everything myself again and since last week I can ride a roller bike again. But training outside is not yet an option. he added, specifying that he hoped to be able to start the Tour de France on June 29.
