Daniela Lizama and Talía Tori, 23 years old, stated that they were traveling with tourists of different nationalities, such as Mexicans, Italians and Guatemalans, among others.

Lizama admitted that “I thought we really weren’t going to get out alive. The co-pilot of the bus screams nothen, I react by throwing myself on the floor between the seats. I feel like we flew right away.”

After the accident in Machu Picchu, the young Chilean woman explained that “I looked out the window and saw that the bus was spilling liquids. And I see someone running with a fire extinguisher (…) at that moment I looked and saw that people were trying to take out the windshield. And as they take out the windshield, the driver, the co-pilot, and the people who were ahead begin to get out (…) they were trying to calm me down, because I was very desperate: I thought we were going to catch fire.”

His companion, Talía Tori, added that “I ended up hanging in one of the front seats,” along with emphasizing that they are emotionally bad, because we are alone in a country that we do not know well.”
