It was found that many single working men and women hope for a spouse’s annual salary of 40 to 50 million won, and many think that the minimum marriage budget is 100 to 200 million won.
On the 17th, HR tech company Wanted Lab released a special HR trend report on the topic of dating and marriage among office workers. The survey was conducted from May 8th to the 17th targeting single Wanted users.
The total number of respondents was approximately 600. Approximately 92% of respondents were in their 20s and 30s, with those aged 30 to 34 accounting for the largest proportion at 37.3%.
When asked about the minimum annual salary of spouses, about half of the respondents said they wanted 40 to 50 million won. 24.5% of respondents said 40 million won, 22.1% said 50 million won, and 24% said ‘don’t care’.
The minimum marriage funds that office workers with the intention to get married think they need (for two people, including housing costs) were 100 million to 200 million won, the highest at 49.4%. The percentage of people who responded that they need 300 million to 400 million won was 24.3%, 14.5% less than 100 million won, 7.1% 500 million to 600 million won, 3.0% 900 million won or more, and 1.7% 700 million to 800 million won.
Seven out of ten (70.2%) responded that they intend to get married. Men (71.4%) were more likely to be married than women (69.1%). 24.1% responded that they were not sure, and 5.7% responded that they had no intention of getting married.
The percentage of women who answered that they have no intention of getting married was about twice as high as that of men (7.8%).
As for the reason for wanting to get married, the answer ‘I want to continue being with my partner’ ranked first at 56.7%. ‘I think I’ll be lonely living alone’ (22.6%), ‘I want to have children’ (8.4%), and ‘for financial stability’ (7.7%) ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively.
When asked why they had no intention of getting married, the most common answer was, “I don’t find the institution of marriage attractive,” at 38.2%. The second most common answer was, “I think I’d be happier living alone” (35.3%).
