For Studio Fútbol, César Luis Merlo spoke with Javier Burrai, the goalkeeper and symbol of Barcelona SC who recently received his first call to La TRI. Burrai spoke about his debut against Italy and said he was proud to represent the country.
«Strange sensations that I had never experienced before, either before the match or on the pitch, the more conscious you are, the more you suffer. I really enjoyed the moment, obviously I would have liked the result to be good but I also know that it was a difficult test and it became even more difficult when the first ball I touched was the one I saved from inside the goal for the first goal, it was a test for me.»
«After the one-on-one that I blocked in the 15th minute, I let go and took part in the aerial play. We ended up closing out the game badly, but afterwards, in terms of the experience, it was spectacular. Being able to represent the country that gave me the most football was truly a huge honour, a source of pride for me and for everyone around me. I had been looking for this for a long time.»
He also made it clear that he wants to continue being part of Félix Sánchez Bas’s process: “Just because I’ve been called up doesn’t mean that I’m done. Obviously I’ll try to do things right at the club so that my name is always there. I want to continue being part of the national team.”
