Viktors Morozs joined the RFS team in December 2019 as an assistant to the Lithuanian specialist Valdas Dambrauskas. However, after only two months, before the start of the 2020 season, Dambrausks left his position and was replaced by Moroz, who came from Vangaži. Since then, the RFS team has managed to win twice in the Latvian Championship, once in the Latvian Cup and qualify twice for the main tournament of the Eurocups. However, the specialist emphasizes that he does not plan to train the RFS for 20 years.
“I also have ambitions, I also want to test myself and work at the next level. It cannot be said that I lack fresh emotions, because I have experienced many of them in the RFS team during these five years – championship title, cup, European Cup, new base, new playing style. We want to grow, we want to develop the players, we want to help them take the next step, so there are many challenges and we don’t lose adrenaline in any game,” says Moroz.
The RFS team can win two more titles this week – on Wednesday they will play against “Auda” in the Latvian Cup final, and on Sunday they will win the title of Latvian champions if they get at least one point in the away match against “Grobina”. However, the RFS season will not end after the Premier League championship, as it will continue to participate in the UEFA Europa League main tournament until the end of January.
“I won’t hide that during the last season I had offers, but at that time I didn’t want to think about them, because we were still fighting for the title. When we won it, the offers came back, but I realized that an interesting season is coming up and I want to continue working here, because the goal is to play in the Eurocups. I don’t have an agent and that also prevents me from finding offers, but at the moment I have no idea that I want to go somewhere as soon as possible. Everything has its time. If it will be important and necessary, maybe I will take some steps myself, but now all my thoughts are about this season,” emphasized the coach in the interview.
Moroz said that for him to leave his position, the offer must be really interesting. “It can only happen after the season, and I don’t even think after this season.”
“As coaches, we have to demand more from ourselves. You have to invest in yourself, spend more time. The players must also demand more from themselves – do more, train more, consult with coaches, look for their weaknesses. Likewise for functionaries. Many of us are only able to point out to others that he is guilty, but that is not right,” Moroz said in the interview what should be done to raise the level of Latvian football. “First of all, you have to think about the fact that everything depends on you. For example, I can say about myself that I consider any victory of our team as my victory, because I know that I did everything to win. Any loss for our team is also my loss. It helps me work harder so we can have more wins.”
