“I was proven wrong by PM Modi”

Padma Shri awardee Rashid Ahmed Qadri expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi for proving him wrong about the Muslim community not receiving recognition under BJP’s regime. The President had announced 106 people with Padma awards on Republic Day this year and 52 of them received the award yesterday. Renowned Pitri craftsman from Karnataka, Rashid Ahmed Qadri, received the Padma Shri award and had the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah at the ceremony. Rashid Ahmed Qadri mentioned during his conversation with the Prime Minister that he had expected to receive the award during the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance regime but was proven wrong by the current government. He expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi for awarding him after 10 years of trying.

New Delhi: Padma Shri awardee Rashid Ahmed Qadri has said that Prime Minister Modi has proved him wrong that a Muslim will not be awarded under the BJP regime.

106 people were announced with Padma awards by the President on Republic Day this year. 52 of them were awarded Padma awards by the President yesterday. Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and many others attended the function.

Rashid Ahmed Qadri, a renowned Pitri craftsman from Karnataka, has received the Padma Shri award. After the award ceremony, Prime Minister Modi met the awardees. Then, along with the Prime Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah also met the awardees. At that time, Rashid Ahmed Qadri, who shook hands with the Prime Minister, said, “There was an expectation that I would get the Padma Award when the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance was in power. But, I didn’t get the award then. I thought that when your government came, the BJP-led government would not give him any award. But you (PM Modi) proved me wrong. I am very grateful to you,” he said.

After hearing what he said, Prime Minister Modi greeted him with a smile. Rashid Ahmed Qadri then spoke to the media and said, “I tried for 10 years to get this award. When BJP came to power, I thought that this government will not give any award to Muslims. Prime Minister Modi has proved me wrong,” he said.
