“I was so excited”: the great compliment received by Gal Gadot

Linda Carter, who played the original “Wonder Woman” in the TV series from the 70s, and even returned to the new “Wonder Woman” film series, told about the first time she saw the Israeli actress Gal Gadot replacing her.

Carter returned to the “DC” universe in the role of Asteria, the legendary warrior for whom the Amazon Games are held that are shown at the beginning of the film “Wonder Woman 1984”, in a scene that appears with the credits after the end of the film.

The 66-year-old actress, who played Diana Prince in the hit TV show, told the British magazine “the guardian” about the first time she saw Gadot in the Amazon warrior suit: “Wow, I was so excited.”

“I was on my feet, clapping, crying, laughing,” Carter added. “I held my daughter’s hand, and my husband’s hand. It was strange to see someone else take the role.”

This is not the first time that Carter has praised Lagad. Already in 2017, upon the release of the first film, she published an angry post on Facebook in which she attacked the well-known director, James Cameron, for his “bullying” comments about this year’s blockbuster.

“To James Cameron, stop defaming ‘Wand Woman’, you sad soul. You may not understand the character, but I certainly understand her, and like all women, we are more than the sum of our parts,” the actress wrote, “The movie was accurate, Gal Gadot She was amazing, I know because I’ve held this position for over 40 years. Stop it!” added Carter.

Carter’s statement came after the director said that the new film directed by Patty Jenkins is a “step backwards” regarding the status of women and that “Hollywood’s self-patting on the back of ‘Wonder Woman’ was wrong.” The director also added that in his eyes, Gal Gadot is “an objectified icon”, because she is “nonetheless the beauty queen of Israel, and she wears a flattering suit that highlights her chest, there is nothing innovative about it”.
