I will give my life for the people, says Sheinbaum upon receiving the certificate of president-elect

Claudia Sheinbaum received from the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) the majority certificate that accredits her as the first elected president in the history of the country.

In front of just over 120 guestsamong which are members of her family, secretaries of state, future members of the cabinet, as well as ministers of the Supreme Court, including its president Norma Piña, the president-elect said that she would give her life for the country and the people of Mexico.

During the solemn session, in the facilities of the Upper Room, Sheinbaum received the document proving that he received 35.9 million votesmaking her the person with the most votes for that position, which she will assume from October 1st to September 30th, 2030.

The president-elect indicated that “no one should fear anything, I make the commitment not to disappoint and to put my life itself at stake to serve my country and my people”.

He reiterated that he does not assume “the triumph as an individual or a personal effort, today, marked in the history of Mexico, I don’t arrive alone, we all arrive”.

He considered that “the mandate is clear: to continue and advance with the transformation of public life that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador initiated.”

The president-elect indicated that on June 2, Citizens expressed their will on the confirmation of the Chamber of Deputieswhich is why he expressed his confidence that the electoral authorities will respect the Constitution in the assignment of plurinominal legislators, with which Morena and its allies would obtain a qualified majority.

Another of his messages was that it must be understood that “there is a popular mandate (…) the people of Mexico decided on a new justice system,” in reference to the so-called Plan Cwhich includes a judicial reform to elect judges, magistrates and ministers by popular vote.

In a ceremony, in which Monica Soto, president of the Electoral Court, also spoke, Claudia Sheinbaum became the first female president elected in Mexico.
