The Kevin Durant storm is still with us. After demanding to be traded at the opening of the transfer window, the Brooklyn Nets star met last weekend with owner Joe Tsai and, according to a report by Shams Charania, gave him an ultimatum: either trade him or fire coach Steve Nash and the general manager Sean Marks.
According to the report, Dornut, who has a four-year contract in which he should earn $198 million, made it clear that he does not believe in the direction Brooklyn is going. If at first the Nets thought that eventually the star would want to stay, it seems now that his fate has already been decided and he is determined to leave the team in his 16th season in the best league in the world.
For now, the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat are still the three favorites to add in the trade, although Brooklyn’s demands are particularly high and stand in the way. If Durant does leave it will be interesting to see what happens with Kyrie Irving’s future, as the guard has stated that he intends to honor his contract, but Durant’s departure could blow the cards.
