Let us find out which administrative officer’s inspirational story inspired you the most this year.

The father’s dream was that the daughter should bring glory to the family by studying well. Due to financial constraints, he ran a tea-pakoda stall for 25 years and barely managed to meet his family’s expenses but did not let his children’s education suffer.

This is the story of Govind Prasad and his daughter Deepesh Kumari, resident of Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

Today Deepesh is serving the country as an IAS officer and her journey to reach this position is very inspiring!

2. Ira Singhal

IAS Ira Singhal, who was the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi, is currently posted in Arunachal Pradesh and is known for her excellent work. But as beautiful as their destination seems today, their journey was equally difficult. Ira Singhal, resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was always fond of reading and writing.

Suffering from a disease called scoliosis, Ira took her early education from Sophia Girls School in Meerut and then for further studies, she came to Delhi and did B.Tech from Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology and then obtained MBA degree from DU.

Ira had seen curfew several times in his district in his childhood. She used to hear every time that the DM has ordered curfew. Since childhood, he felt that DM has a lot of power and from then on he decided that he also wanted to become an officer. Although people always doubted his ability due to his disability, Ira never let it come in the way of his goal and passed the UPSC exam thrice.

3. Vineet Nandanwar

Vineet’s own story is also full of struggles. Vineet, who studied in a government school, had no idea in his childhood how to become an IAS. He left home for higher education just with the dream of becoming a collector. Later he started preparing for UPSC.

Circumstances at home were forcing him to do a job. But he never gave up in difficult situations and never stopped trying. He also took the education worker exam for the job but he failed in that also.

But still he did not let his spirit weaken. On the basis of his strong will, he passed UPSC in his fourth attempt and eventually became a collector. Vineet is now trying to change the picture of Naxal area with this power of education.

4. Govind Jaiswal

Where there is a will, there is a way and IAS Govind Jaiswal has proved this to be true. Despite all the difficulties, Govind worked with full courage and dedication and finally achieved the position he had always dreamed of reaching.

However, this journey and this story is not just about Govind. This story is also about the hard work and sacrifice of his father Narayan Jaiswal. This is also the story of that rickshaw puller father, who sometimes hid his wounds and sometimes spent many nights hungry and made his son an IAS officer.

5. Anju Sharma

Failing in board exams or not having good academic records will spoil your career, it is not so at all and this has been proved by Gujarat cadre IAS officer Anju Sharma. 1991 batch IAS officer Anju Sharma had failed in Chemistry in class 10th pre-board exam and then in Economics paper in class 12th.

But Anju did not give up due to these failures and her mother supported her a lot in this entire journey.

Even after failing twice, Anju did not get disappointed, rather she learned that one should not depend on the preparation just before the exam. Preparation for exams should be started well in advance. After this, along with his graduation studies, he also started preparing for UPSC.

At the age of just 22, he passed the UPSC exam in his very first attempt. Anju says that whether it is UPSC or Board exam, there is only one exam. Instead of getting discouraged by a single failure, learn from it. You have many chances to achieve success, just keep trying.

We will continue to bring more such inspirational stories in the coming year also.
