“Administratively there is no mistake in calling the Central Government a Union Government. But the problem arises only when it is politicized,” Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi said.

In order to face the Indian Civil Service Interview, a discussion program called ‘Ennith Vathaka’ was held today (January 10) at the Governor’s House, Guindy, Chennai. 60 students from various states of India who passed the preliminary and main examination participated in the event and asked questions and got advice from the Governor of Tamil Nadu RN Ravi. They raised questions for more than 3 hours, especially about the conflicts between the central and state governments, about answering questions about state issues, about national welfare, human rights, language issues and how high-ranking officials in government administration should handle them.

Addressing this, Governor Ravi said, “Your skill is not important in the interview. Interview is a test of how you are going to present yourself. It should have good energy and vibrancy; Must have a smiling face. Summarize the answers to the questions. If you don’t know the answer to a question, feel free to say ‘don’t know’. There is nothing wrong with that. Do not rush to answer any questions, answer calmly. Newspaper reports are personal views of a company and cannot be the absolute truth.

Act according to the opinion of the central government!

Officers are different; Social activists are different. Officers are required for central government jobs. No need for human rights activists or advocates of individual freedom. Officers should be officers. Don’t be social activists. Officials should act based on facts and evidence. Don’t act like a social activist to express the thoughts of others. When there is a difference of opinion between the Central and State Governments, the Civil Service Officers (IAS, IPS) in all the States shall act according to the opinion of the Central Government.

When asked in the interview, ‘Why do you want to join the central government job’, instead of answering like everyone else to serve the people, ‘I didn’t come to the central government job just to serve. Answer honestly ‘Central government job gives social prestige and pay and I like this job’.

In other states it is not called Union Government!

Administratively there is no mistake in calling the Central Government the Union Government. But the problem arises when it is politicized. The problem is that some people in Tamil Nadu translate it as the Union Government in an insulting way. Apart from Tamilnadu, no one creates problem in other states by claiming to be Union Government. Only in Tamilnadu such problems are created for political reasons.

Jallikattu has been practiced in Tamil Nadu for thousands of years. Therefore, it cannot be said that cultural jallikattu competitions should be banned in Tamil Nadu. At the same time, if a question is asked about Jallikattu in the interview, you can answer that it should be conducted without harming the animals and the players. Everyone should be willing to learn multiple languages. Tamil is a superior classical language.

Studying Hindi will help students of all states:

The people of Tamil Nadu are very proud of Tamil. Government of Tamil Nadu follows bilingual policy. One more language can be taught in Tamil Nadu following the trilingual policy. It will help students of Tamil Nadu. It will especially help students of Tamil Nadu who are going for central government jobs. Learning an additional Indian language is beneficial for everyone. At the same time, Hindi is the most widely spoken language in India. So learning Hindi will help students a lot. I am not saying to study Hindi compulsorily. But studying Hindi will help students of all states.

People of Tamil Nadu are a bit emotional

People of Tamilnadu can be a bit emotional. But they engage in protests according to the rights given by law. Protests are not taking place only in Tamil Nadu. Protests are going on in India on all models,” he said.
