Nearly 5,000 Ibercaja del agricultural sectorwho have contracted the agricultural insurance of line 309 of extensive herbaceous, will receive in the next few days historical compensation to cover the losses produced by the drought severe that has affected their crops.
Over the next few weeks, Agroseguro is going to pay the sector an indemnity of 371 million euros corresponding to almost 57,000 claims registered in Spain during the last campaign, which will mean a long-awaited injection of capital for the insured, who have seen their production considerably reduced or lost completely, as consequence of one of the greatest droughts in living memory.
The indemnified will receive a communication this week informing them of the payment, which will be reflected in their accounts within seven days of receiving the notification.
“Farmers know that it is very difficult to predict the weather behavior and its impact on the productivity of each campaign, therefore, in Ibercaja We value agricultural insurance as an effective form of crop protection and we are going to continue supporting our clients, especially in times of difficulty like the one the sector is currently experiencing”, underlined the director of Ibercaja Mediación de Seguros, Carlos Falcon.
The indemnities correspond to claims in early producing areas, where damage assessment began in general at the end of May: Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, with the exception of Guadalajara, whose production is later, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Extremadura and Madrid . Subsequently, the rest of the claims registered in dryland arable crops will be paid, as the damage assessment progresses, taking into account that the total area claimed may exceed 1.9 million hectares.
