After a hearing at the Consolat de Mar, Sánchez reiterated that the commitment to maintain jobs has already been signed with Air Europa and the contracts of its employees at the headquarters in Llucmajor (Mallorca) for five years, and for seven years that of its ‘handling’ employees -ground assistance-. A commitment from which they would benefit more than 2,500 workers.

In addition, the president of the Government, Francina Armengol, has stated that it has been a “very fruitful” meeting and highlighted that the purchase of AirEuropa will multiply the connectivity of baleareswhich will help lower prices.

In this sense, Sánchez has affirmed that “Today the Balearic Islands are better connected than ever”, and has detailed that Iberia has multiplied by three the number of seats offered on the routes of the different islands, being the territory best connected with Barcelona and with Madrid of the company.

In addition, he has pointed out that the Balearic Islands is a “very important” territory for Iberia, and has indicated that 18 percent of the population of the Balearic Islands has used the company’s services.

Regarding prices, Sánchez has indicated that they have dropped 15 percent in recent years thanks to the increase in places, with current minimum prices of around 21 euros without counting on the application of the resident discount. “Some minimum prices that today are 50 percent cheaper than ten years ago, despite inflation,” she detailed.
