The first data on the Brazilian population collected in 2022 Population Census will be released on the morning of this Wednesday, 28, by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The agency plans to announce population and household totals at different geographic levels and cutouts and other indicators derived from this information, such as the average number of residents per household, demographic density and the annual growth rate of the population and households. A preview of Census released in December last year informed the estimate of 207.8 million inhabitants in the country. According to the IBGE, 83.9% of the population was registered in 2022 – around 178 million people. The Census was scheduled to take place in 2020 but has been postponed more than once due to covid-19 pandemic and due to lack of resources. The survey started in August 2022.
