The Guinean community of Columbus has a new leader. Ibrahima Sory Yansané, since that is who we are talking about, was elected last Sunday, July 14, president of the Guinean community of Columbus, capital of the state of Ohio, in the United States of America.

In his victory speech, Ibrahima Sory Yansané expressed his gratitude to the Guinean community of Columbus for its trust and valuable support, thus emphasizing the importance of unity among compatriots in this city, one of the most populated by Guineans in the United States.

“To my dear brothers and sisters of the Guinean community of Columbus, I would first like to express my deepest gratitude after all these years spent at their side as vice president of the community. Their commitment, dedication and team spirit have made possible everything we have been able to do on behalf of the outgoing office. Then, I thank the entire Guinean community of Columbus for their vote of confidence, for their unwavering support which has allowed me to be president today. I therefore commit to making every effort to live up to their expectations. I already know that the task will not be easy, but with the help of everyone we can achieve it,” declared Mr. Yansané, also deputy secretary general of the Council of Guineans Abroad in the United States.
Continuing, the president of the coordination of the Basse côte de Colombus association, also wanted to thank his predecessors, in particular Ismaël Baldé, for his mark of confidence and his support, recognizing the importance of their contributions to the community.
“I would first like to thank my predecessor, President Ismaël Baldé, who was kind enough to make me his vice-president during his term. I would also like to express my gratitude to the former presidents who have guided and inspired our community. Their experience and advice are invaluable to me,” added Ibrahima Sory Yansané.
This election marks a significant turning point for members of this diaspora, who have expressed their confidence in Yansané to lead and improve the living conditions of their community.
