The International Cricket Council (ICC) board meeting is going to be held in Bangladesh for the third time. After ten years, the ICC board meeting will be held in the capital Dhaka.
The ICC Board meeting was held in Dhaka for the first time in 1998 during the Mini World Cup. Later in 2014, Bangladesh hosted the ICC meeting for the second time during the T20 World Cup. Bangladesh is hosting this board meeting after ten years. Not much time left for this board meeting. The Women’s T20 World Cup is going to be held in Bangladesh in October. Board meeting will be held then.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon returned from Sri Lanka after the ICC board meeting yesterday. The BCB president gave the news that the next board meeting will be held in Dhaka. He also said that the next ICC president may be elected in this meeting.
Nazmul Hasan said, ‘ICC’s next board meeting will be held in Dhaka. The election is also supposed to be held here. Election is more likely. The current chairman held his last board meeting in October. We are supposed to give election manifesto. It should be done by now.’
Telling how important the meeting is for the Bangladesh team, the board president said, ‘Since the current ICC committee is in its last term, there are some critical decisions on which a lot will depend. What is being passed now will last for eight years. Who will get how much money, what will be the game is very important for Bangladesh cricket. I am now spending my time only on ICC and ACC. So that whoever comes (as BCB president) in the future, does not face any problem with ICC and ACC.’
It is heard that BCCI secretary Jai Shah may get the responsibility as the next board president of ICC.
