Rohit and Root in batting
Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne, who made a name for himself in Test cricket last year, has been named in the ICC Test Team of the Year 2021. He scored 902 runs in 7 matches in Test cricket last year. Rohit Sharma, who scored 906 runs last calendar year, Marnus Labushein of Australia (526) and Kane Williamson of New Zealand (1708) are also in the squad. Apart from them, Pakistan’s Fawad Alam (571) and India’s Rishabh Pant (748 in 12 matches) are also in the batting line-up. The ball is the wicket keeper of the team.
Ashwin and Afridi in bowling
Four bowlers have been named in the ICC Test Team of the Year 2021. They are Ravichandran Ashwin of India, Kyle Jamison of New Zealand, Hasan Ali of Pakistan and Shaheen Afridi. Out of these, Ashwin took 54 wickets in 9 matches – his tally in 2021. Kyle Jamison took 27 wickets in 5 Tests last year. Hasan Ali took 41 wickets in 9 Tests and Shaheen Afridi took 47 wickets in 9 matches last year.
