New Delhi: The CBI, which had already arrested the bank’s former CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar in the ICICI Bank loan fraud case, today (Dec 26) arrested Videocon Group owner Venugopal Dutt.

Born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Chanda Kochhar, 61, was the chief executive officer of ICICI Bank, one of the country’s largest private sector banks, from 2009 to 2018. At that time, there was a complaint that he indulged in abuse of power and gave a loan of Rs 3,250 crore to the ‘Videocon’ group in violation of the norms.

In this, there was a complaint that her businessman husband Deepak Kochhar benefited. In this regard, ICICI Bank conducted an investigation in 2018. Chanda Kochhar was fired in 2018 after the allegations were confirmed.

The CBI and the enforcement department are investigating and registering a case against Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar in connection with this malpractice. The enforcement department has already frozen their assets worth Rs 78 crore in this matter.

In this case, the two were arrested on December 24 as they did not cooperate with the CBI summons for investigation related to this fraud. Meanwhile, the CBI has arrested Videocon Group owner Venugopal Dutt in connection with the case.
