On the fact of the shelling of the border area of the Rostov region, a criminal case was opened in the main investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia. The Tarasovsky district of the region was shelled by paramilitary forces of Ukraine, this happened between five and six in the morning on February 19, the press service of the TFR reported.
According to the investigation, unidentified persons used a multiple launch rocket system. There are no casualties among the civilian population, the TFR specified.
“After clearing the territory, the investigation team began to inspect the scene, which is currently ongoing. On the fact of attempted murder committed in a generally dangerous way, investigators of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case, ”the press service said.
The explosion occurred 300 meters from one of the households in the village of Mityakinskaya, a law enforcement source said earlier. Later, another shell exploded in the Rostov region. Information about incidents in the border area was also confirmed by the press service of the Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the region, Interfax reports.
“One of the shells exploded two kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border on the outskirts of the village of Mityakinskaya, Tarasovsky district. Another projectile destroyed an outbuilding on the territory of a private household in the Manotsky farm of the Tarasovsky district,» the report says.
Earlier, the heads of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR announced a mass evacuation of citizens, referring to Kiev’s plans for a military offensive against uncontrolled territories. In the Rostov region, in connection with the evacuation of refugees, a state of emergency has been declared, two more regions of Russia have announced the introduction of a high alert regime.
