Gabon’s rating has improved by 1.8 points compared to that of 2023, thanks in particular to an increase in the penetration of mobile telephony and the Internet, as well as good coverage of 3G and 4G networks. in terms of ICT development.

At the continental level, Libya ranks first with a score of 88.1 points, ahead of Morocco (86.8 points), Seychelles (84.7 points), Mauritius (84.2), South Africa (83.6), Algeria (80.9), Botswana (78.7), Tunisia (77.2) and Egypt (76.8).

The ICT Development Index (IDI) entitled « Measuring digital development – ICT Development Index 2024 »assesses progress in ICT development in 170 countries and territories around the world based on 10 indicators.

In particular, the percentage of individuals using the Internet, mobile broadband penetration, mobile broadband Internet traffic, the price of mobile data and voice services, and the mobile phone ownership rate.
