ICU equipment arrives at the Miguel Hilario Alcívar Hospital in Bahía de Caráquez – Ministry of Public Health

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) to continue the strategy to strengthen the equipment and infrastructure of health establishments nationwide in Manabí, delivered new sanitary equipment to repower the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Miguel Hilario Alcívar Hospital from Bahia de Caraquez.

The investment is $517,960 and includes 4 portable vacuum cleaners, 8 intensive care beds, 1 16-terminal monitoring center, 8 12-lead electrocardiographs, 2 portable diagnostic sets, 5 intermediate vital sign monitors, 16 vital sign monitors portable, 5 specialized intrahospital transport ventilators, 6 specialized intensive care ventilators, among others.

“Our satisfaction is immense at making a dream come true, a citizen struggle to have areas such as the ICU, neonatology and imaging in this hospital. This reaffirms that together we can achieve many things, like today when together with the health authorities this objective has been achieved. It is an example of how we should work together for the benefit of our citizens,” said Luis Mendoza, overseer of hospital construction and equipment.

The recent equipment for the ICU joins the delivery of sterilization equipment that arrived at the beginning of this month, which makes it possible to enhance the work carried out from this important hospital area.

The Miguel H. Alcívar Hospital was officially handed over on December 15, 2022 by the National Government with an investment of 44.5 million dollars between infrastructure and health equipment. The work benefits more than 162,000 citizens of the Sucre, Jama, San Vicente and Pedernales cantons, corresponding to the northern area of ​​Manabí
