(ANSA) – ANCONA, SEPTEMBER 23 – “I decided to donate a kidney to my husband because he wasn’t well and after only four days from the operation I went home peacefully. I would do it again immediately. If we can help a sick person live, it’s right to do so and I assure you that in addition to doing good to the sick person we also do good to ourselves”. This is the experience of Angela Croia who donated a kidney to her husband Luigi Bracalente, 70 years old from Casette d’Ete (Fermo), giving him back his life and the possibility of continuing to work on their beautiful farm.
“I donated a kidney to my daughter Desirè, she had been on dialysis for eight months, as soon as I knew I could give her a normal life back I had no doubts and I would do it again immediately”, said Cristina Falappa, adding that she was proud of her daughter’s graduation.
These are some of the many testimonies told by the protagonists themselves during the meeting dedicated to citizens, on the topic of kidney transplants from living donors entitled “Living kidney transplants: knowing the opportunity” organized by the Marche Regional Transplant Center in Torrette directed by Dr. Benedetto Marini at the Marche University Hospital.
“Transplants are the result of work involving many professionals, but they could never be realized without the generosity of all civil society. Living kidney donation and transplantation is a consolidated procedure of the Marche Transplant Center, the removal of a kidney from a living donor is performed with a minimally invasive laparoscopic technique, guaranteeing the donor’s complete recovery in a short time”, explained Marini during the meeting that offered the public the opportunity to learn about the new procedures, the procedures and the reference doctors who work every day at the Marche Regional Transplant Center. Closing the event was the vice president of the Marche Region, Health Councilor Filippo Saltamartini who highlighted the excellence of the Marche Regional Transplant Center. (ANSA).
