On the evening of November 23, Ida Prefecture issued a warning about the possible closure of the border crossing in Narva.
“Attention! Due to the worsening migration situation, the border crossing point in Narva may be closed.
In this case, it will be difficult to return to Estonia, and we recommend not to travel to Russia for now.
We are preparing for the fact that if we have to close the border crossing due to an immigration attack, we could do it very quickly.
Last week we erected barriers there, and in the coming days we will strengthen security at the Narva border checkpoints. We are closing two lanes of traffic as long as it does not impede the movement of vehicles. At the currently closed Narva-2 pedestrian crossing, we are strengthening the fences on the bridge so that it is not used for illegal border crossings.”
