The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will lend $289.52 million for construction of affordable houses to ensure planned, sustainable and environmentally friendly housing for the low and lower-middle income groups. The amount of this loan in Bangladeshi currency is 3 thousand 184 crores.
On Monday (April 29), at the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of IDB in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Government of Bangladesh and IDB signed a loan agreement for the implementation of a five-year project titled ‘Rural and Pre-Urban Housing Project Phase II’.

The project will be implemented by the Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation under the Financial Institutions Department. The scheme will provide affordable housing loans to ensure planned, sustainable and eco-friendly housing for the low and lower-middle income population living in rural and suburban areas of the country. Implementation of the project will ensure optimum utilization of land and conservation of cultivable land.
