The “Young beekeeper” project was implemented on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World” and the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). It continues successfully in Gabala region.
Bee families and necessary equipment were presented to young eco-entrepreneurs within the project jointly organized by IDEA Public Union, Youth Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan, State Employment Agency and “ABAD” public legal entity.
It should be noted that the project is aimed at the creation and proper development of beekeeping for young people and young families. A one-month training program was held for 20 young people and young families selected within the framework of the project with the participation of professionals. The young people who have completed the training are fully equipped with the bee family and hives, beekeeper’s clothing, beekeeping apparatus and other supplies necessary for beekeeping, and the necessary conditions have been created for the young beekeepers to carry out the production process effectively.
In order to increase the number of beehives through natural growth, the farms of young beekeepers will be regularly monitored by experts and they will be given necessary advice. In order to reach the stage of competitive honey production in the market economy, it is planned to help new beekeepers to gain access to a wide customer base by exhibiting their products and to organize sales effectively.
It should be noted that the project has been implemented since 2021. The goal of the project is to increase the range of bees, which are the protectors of biodiversity, in our country, to promote the spread of beekeeping as a type of eco-entrepreneurship in the regions of Azerbaijan, to support the provision of natural honey production, to contribute to the improvement of the financial well-being of young families, and to ensure the employment of young people.
