Panaitolikos ended the season with… the right hand, as in the final of the Play Outs OFI prevailed 2-1 in Crete in the last game of both teams for the current season. Thus, the “canaries” completed it with four consecutive victories.
The Cretans had Christogeorgos in goal, Theodosoulakis, Loukaos, Giannoulis, Thorarinson four in defense from the right, Gayegos, Glazer in the axis, Apostolakis, Riera on the wings and Toral behind the striker Iseka.

“Open” match, nice goal by Karelis, crossbar by Iseka
Midway into the match, both teams, relieved of stress and with several changes at the mercy of the last match, wanted to put the ball down and enjoy it. And they did very well of course, as there is quality on both sides and the lack of purpose helped them to unfold their virtues.
The first 25 to 30 minutes belonged to the “canaries”, as during this time they circulated the ball, created phases and made it “difficult” for their opponents’ defense. With F. Duarte as a driving force, the visitors entered better and just in the 6th minute they opened the score with a nice conversion by Karelis, after a “stuffing” by the Portuguese midfielder.
Panaitolikos then threatened with Hatzitheodoridis (9′), Bouzoukis (14′), in addition he pressed 2-3 times with claims in the frames of Christogeorgos and controlled the rhythm. It was somewhere there that the home team reacted and began to turn the possession they were holding into “substance”. After a nice development, they “flirted” in the 33rd minute with an equaliser, but Iseka’s shot was blocked by the right upright of Chaves, while in the 40th minute, Toral received the ball beautifully and scored, but the Argentinian goalkeeper firmly blocked it.
0-2 at 42 seconds into the second half
With the “good morning” in the second half, just 42 seconds after its start, we also had a 2nd goal for the “canaries” when Torrehon, Hatjitheodoridis found themselves correctly, the latter made the parallel and Bouzoukis, who was coming like a “trailer” doubled the their goals, while the 26-year-old midfielder did not celebrate his goal, respecting his previous tenure at OFI.
1-2 Apostolakis, the “half” goal was Toral
But the match still had… a long way to go, since both teams continued to play openly and without the slightest purpose. Panaitolikos not only did not “shut down” but came forward, while OFI also improved its image. The “rise” of Toral contributed to this, which helped in better circulation on his part, and in the 53rd minute, Gayegos threatened with a shot for 1-2. The Spanish midfielder also did it in the 64th minute and finally it happened soon after (65th minute) with Apostolakis, after a fine cross of his own, as the youngster got on the back of his opponents’ defense and took advantage of it.
In the last minutes, the match “opened up” completely, as there were changes on both sides and, more generally, there was a clear intention from everyone to combine a possible positive result with a nice ball. Bruno Duarte, Neira, Riera missed, in time order, a good chance for 1-3 or 2-2 respectively (the first/the other two), but the 1-2 did not change.
MVP: Giannoulis. The 37-year-old defender played today for the last time in his rich career and was idolized by everyone on the field, Whatever happened in the game, how much from the moment it was pointless, he was the great protagonist,
At his height: F. Duarte created many problems in the defense of OFI in the first half. Peres, Hatzitheodoridis from the guests also scored a click, as did Gaiegos, Toral, Apostolakis from the hosts.
OFI (Traianos Dellas): Christogeorgos, Giannoulis (55′ Vouros), Glazer, Loukao, Thorarinson, Gayegos (55′ Bakits), Apostolakis (75′ Mosquera), Theodosoulakis (55′ Marinakis), Toral (75′ Neira), Riera, Iseka.
PANAITOLIKOS (Yiannis Petrakis): Chaves, Mavrias, Liavas, Bruno Duarte, Torrejon (86′ Tsingaras), Hatzitheodoridis, Peres, Bouzoukis (79′ Joao Pedro), Frederico Duarte (70′ Nikolaou), Dias (70′ Lomonakos), Karelis (70′ Belevonis).
