The winning company of the emerging competition -startups- which included the BTM forum in Lloret de Mar in its program this year, Identifyprevailed forcefully with a business project in the form of a platform and application that is the 21st century alternative to tourist brochures and maps.

The company, as explained by its executive director, Elena Losantos, it fits the usual tech pattern with founders starting from home and being in different locations to work together.

“We grew thanks to an accelerator, which in our case was AticcoLab, and now we have an office at the headquarters of Barcelona Activa”, he details.

It has been just over two years since they established themselves in a reference forum for the tourism sector such as the BTM, which is organized annually in Lloret de Mar de Mar by the Climent Guitart Foundation and the EFE Agency.

They have made a place in the accommodation market after appreciating that it still has “way to go in the world of digitization and innovation”.

How Identify works it goes through a platform with cultural experience guides based on what interests hotel customers the mostIdentify DTX, and also by an application, Identify -trips and routes, with nearly half a million cultural points around the world that helps travelers get to know what’s around them.

«For accommodations, we offer content only for their area so that they can recommend it to their customers and always have up-to-date information and activities and, in the app, we have a global information repository where users can create their routes and play them by identifying the content from anywhere in the world». says Losantos.

The idea, as he explains, arises from competition in the sector and the need for companies “to to stand out not only by offering a good service”, but by providing “a pleasant experience to the customer and this experience passes on to the destination”.

“We know that, when you ask about activities at the hotel reception, they give you brochures, paper maps or refer you to the tourist offices. This generates a negative experience for the customer, because the content is not personalized, it is not updated, many times they do not receive it in their language and, in addition, the useful life of this paper is very short”, he says.

Identify DTX, as he points out, “not only manages to reduce the time spent by reception staff recommending activities by up to 70%but also builds guest loyalty and generates additional income for the hotel through the sale of activities on the platform.”

Elena Losantos understands the victory at the BTM as “a recognition of the work of the whole team during this last year” and as “another step” to publicize the project and position it “as the reference tool for tourist accommodation”.

Another member of the company, Noelia Losantos, points out that the content is updated from Identify and that companies with a marketing department that knows and works on public profiles are the ones that get the most out of this technology .

Elena adds that, in any case, when they start a project with a hosting, they usually expect to be told the type of customer they receive or want to attract to pour into the content.

The platform is available in Spanish, Catalan and English and, for hotels, five more languages are added such as French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic, although more can be added.

In Lloret de Mar, Identify put the concept of democratization on the table, which Noelia Losantos specifies in allow “more people to know and enjoy cultural points from all over the worldeven those that are less well-known but worth it.’

He also adds the de-massification and de-seasonalization of tourism as virtues of his business, since they guide visitors to places of “interest” but outside the most traditional circuits.

“We have to achieve capillarising of this tourism – of masses that travel to big cities– towards areas that also need to be known, making tourism return economically to the territory”, he concludes.
