The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the liquidation in the Gaza Strip of a high-ranking commander of the military wing of the radical Hamas movement, Imad Jaro, who headed the emergency commission and was the mayor of the city of Deir el-Balah in the central part of the Gaza Strip, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS
“The terrorist was operating in a compound that Hamas terrorists used to plan and carry out attacks on IDF troops and Israel in the humanitarian zone in Deir al-Balah,” the army press service said in a statement. According to her, Jaro “actively participated in the activities of the Hamas government in the Deir el-Balah area” and “maintained constant contact with the leadership of the military wing of Hamas,” to which he “provided combat support,” and was also “responsible for the political activity of Hamas in the central camps” in the Palestinian enclave.
“Steps were taken before the strike to reduce the risk of harm to civilians,” the Israeli military noted. “Hamas continues to use civilian and humanitarian infrastructure for its terrorist purposes, violating international law,” the army press service added.
