IDF Seals Hamas Tunnels Over 2km Long Near Yellow Line

Israeli military combat engineers have sealed two underground Hamas tunnels spanning a combined length of more than two kilometers east of the Yellow Line in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Wednesday.

Engineering Operations Along the Yellow Line

IDF troops operating under the command of the Gaza Division’s Engineering Unit have advanced their efforts to clear central and southern Gaza of terrorist infrastructure. Operating east of the Yellow Line, military teams located and sealed two underground tunnel routes belonging to Hamas as part of an ongoing initiative to neutralize the group’s tunnel network.

Drone footage published by the military displays the sealed tunnels running underground for extended stretches, heavily packed with sandbags. The infrastructure spanned a combined length exceeding two kilometers, according to reports from military announcements released on Wednesday.

Military Posture Under Ceasefire Frameworks

While combat engineers continue demolition and sealing work, the military maintains that operations adhere strictly to established boundaries.

“IDF troops under the command of the Southern Command are deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement framework and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat.”

Under current directives, forces have generally been ordered to halt its attacks in the Gaza Strip. However, exceptions remain active for terrorists who are known to be planning to carry out imminent strikes.

Targeted Strikes Against Militant Cells

Earlier in the week, an air strike hit a cafe located in the northern Gaza City port area.

The strike killed several Hamas commanders who were gathered to plan imminent attacks against Israeli forces stationed in the Strip. Six people died in the attack, while at least ten others sustained injuries. In a separate operation, air force jets struck a Gazan terror cell in Khan Yunis that was likewise planning and preparing an operation against the military.

Strategic Encirclement and Humanitarian Corridors

The broader military campaign continues to center on the northern Gaza Strip, where armed forces have encircled Gaza City—the enclave’s largest urban center. Mapping data provided by regional monitors and international organizations shows that Israeli forces have cut a line from the eastern border to the Mediterranean Sea, isolating northern population centers.

To facilitate the movement of civilians away from active combat zones, the military reopened an evacuation route for Gazans fleeing south. Spokesman Jonathan Conricus outlined the strategic objectives of clearing the north during a regular operational briefing.

Since evacuation orders were first issued, the military reports dropping millions of pamphlets, placing thousands of phone calls, and utilizing digital platforms to direct residents toward southern areas. Displaced populations have moved toward zones including the Deir al-Balah governorate, which houses several United Nations refugee camps.

Persistent Risks Across the Enclave

Despite repeated calls for civilians to evacuate southward, air strikes have continued to hit sites across southern Gaza, leaving displaced families fearful that safety remains elusive outside the north. Damage analysis from satellite imagery documents extensive destruction in refugee infrastructure both north and south of Wadi Gaza.

Health authorities in the enclave report that the overall death toll from Israeli strikes has surpassed 10,000 victims, drawing urgent demands from United Nations agency leaders for a humanitarian ceasefire. Military officials maintain that operations will persist wherever a Hamas target arises, emphasizing that while taking feasible precautions to mitigate the harm to uninvolved civilians, operations to dismantle the organization’s command structure will continue across the entire territory according to statements from the military.
