In a continued effort to prevent potential attacks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) successfully conducted strikes against two more Hezbollah squads in southern Lebanon. The IDF announced on Sunday that one of the cells planned to launch rockets in the Mount Dov area, while the second cell was preparing to launch an anti-tank guided missile near the northern town of Mattat.

These latest strikes mark the sixth and seventh Hezbollah cells targeted by the IDF on Sunday alone. Earlier in the day, the IDF and Defense Ministry disclosed their plans to evacuate an additional 14 communities located close to the Lebanese border. This decision comes in response to the repeated rocket and missile attacks launched by Hezbollah and allied Palestinian factions over the past two weeks.

The National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) under the Defense Ministry will oversee the evacuation process, ensuring the safe relocation of residents to state-funded guesthouses. Last week, NEMA had already initiated the evacuation of 28 communities situated within two kilometers of the border, as well as the city of Kiryat Shmona.

The 14 communities now being added to the evacuation list are Snir, Dan, Beit Hillel, She’ar Yashuv, Hagoshrim, Liman, Matzuva, Eylon, Goren, Gornot HaGalil, Even Menachem, Sasa, Tziv’on, and Ramot Naphtali. Many residents in northern border towns have already voluntarily evacuated southward in response to escalating attacks from Lebanon.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Hezbollah, cautioning the group against entering the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Hamas terror group in the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu emphasized that if Hezbollah decides to engage, it would regret it, drawing parallels to the devastating Second Lebanon War. He asserted that Israel possesses a force that Hezbollah cannot fathom, further implying the repercussions would be severe for both the group and Lebanon as a whole.

The IDF spokesperson echoed concerns of Lebanon being dragged into a war due to Hezbollah’s escalating attacks. Lt. Col. (res.) Jonathan Conricus highlighted the dangerous game Hezbollah is playing and warned about the potential consequences for Lebanon’s prosperity and sovereignty. He urged Lebanese authorities to evaluate the risks associated with supporting terrorists in Gaza.

Over the past two weeks, the tension between the Israeli military and Hezbollah, along with allied Palestinian factions, has intensified in southern Lebanon. These clashes have raised concerns about a potential new front opening up as Israel continues its offensive in the Gaza Strip against Hamas terrorists.

The IDF reported conducting several strikes throughout Sunday, targeting terrorism cells and missile launchers. One video released by the IDF showed the strike against a terror cell in southern Lebanon planning an anti-tank guided missile attack on the community of Avivim. Additionally, a Hezbollah position in southern Lebanon was hit by Israeli fighter jets after preparations were detected for a missile launch on the northern community of Malkia.

Hezbollah has retaliated with anti-tank guided missile attacks, rockets, mortars, and attempted infiltrations into northern Israel. Several drones were intercepted over the region as well. Both sides have exercised restraint to avoid an all-out conflict while negotiations continue.

To date, six Israeli soldiers, 25 Hezbollah terrorists, and six Palestinian terrorists have been killed in the exchanges of fire. One Israeli civilian and several Lebanese civilians and a journalist have also lost their lives due to the cross-border violence.

As tensions continue to rise, Israel remains steadfast in its determination to protect its citizens and prevent further attacks from Hezbollah and other armed groups in Lebanon. The international community closely monitors the situation, urging all parties to exercise restraint and engage in diplomatic efforts to restore peace and stability to the region.
