The IDF’s futuristic “Haitan” APC can change the rules of the game in a war in which the fighters will be required to maneuver deep into Lebanese territory. The commander of the ground arm, Colonel Tamir Yedai, instructed to speed up the production process of the APC and assign the process of absorption and assimilation into the ground forces to the Nahal brigade. The APC is supposed to assist in maneuvering deep in enemy territory, crossing rocky areas, steep slopes, complex passages and even in the heart of built-up areas with explosive charges.
At the end of discussions within Division 162 under the command of Brigadier General Nadav Lotan, it was decided that the absorption would be assigned to the soldiers of the Nahal Patrol, who in a war situation are required to reach very deep into enemy territory while crossing complex areas.

The Eitan APC moves on eight wheels, unlike the Tiger APC that moves on a “caterpillar”, similar to the Chariot tanks. The eight wheels allow the tank to travel over rocks and ruts, but also on paved roads and thus reach a speed of up to 90 km/h in any section throughout the country, and not necessarily on carriers (semi-trailers). The soldiers undergoing the training described the use of the APC as an “experience”. According to them, “it has an air conditioner the size of a Kia Picanto, the shape of a knife that allows us to be protected from a variety of threats, the chairs are very comfortable, easy to unload, allows you to control it easily without sticking your head out. A kind of field monster that will help us maneuver in the next war as quickly as possible to the villages of Hezbollah in Lebanon”.
