Former Secretary Mohammad Zainul Bari has resigned from the post of Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) chairman. He sent his resignation letter to the relevant authorities on WhatsApp on Wednesday (September 4), trusted sources confirmed.

On June 15, 2022, the government appointed Mohammad Zainul Bari as the chairman of IDRA. He was made the chairman of the institution for three years. However, he stepped down as chairman of the insurance regulatory body before the completion of his term.

After the political change on August 5, the chairmen of various institutions are resigning. Following this, the chairman of IDRA resigned.

Zainul Bari, an officer of BCS ninth batch administration cadre, was earlier secretary of planning department. Before that Zainul Bari held the duties of Secretary of Ministry of Social Welfare, Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka, Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong, Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Education and Director General of Anti Corruption Commission.
