IECM promotes democracy in a fun way

To improve coexistence through value practices, the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM), through the Civic Ludoteca (Luci), promotes various recreational activities for the disclosure, knowledge and appropriation of values ​​to develop democratic life among citizens.

This toy library offers games and theatre performances that address topics such as the importance of dialogue and participation, the difference between values ​​and counter-values ​​of democracy, styles of authority, attitudes towards conflict or consistency in the practice of values, explained the IECM.

The body noted that the diversity of activities that the Luci has has allowed the attendance of different audiences, among which are children, students, adolescents in conflict with the law, mothers and fathers of family, guardians and educational authorities.

He stressed that by disseminating civic values, conflicts and problems of coexistence in communities, schools, institutions and organizations can be addressed so that they can be avoided.

HOW DOES THE PLAYROOM WORK?

The local Electoral Institute highlighted that they are invited by a school, institution or organization to make visible and address coexistence problems in their environment, since their staff studies the social context of the place to intervene in a timely, dynamic and fun way.

He stressed that in the 24 years of existence of Luci has provided care to 219,968 people, including 145,287 students of the different educational levels.

In addition to providing care through educational personnel to 23 thousand 597 mothers and fathers of families; as well as support for 10,661 teachers through ongoing work to build citizenship and promote democratic practices and values.

In addition, the toy library has had an impact on various departments and electoral bodies, people in pretrial detention, cultural promoters and the general public who attend fairs, festivals, meetings and conferences.

The IECM noted that alliances are key to carrying out its activities, which is why strategic links have been generated with the SEP, INE, DIF, CONAFEthe Pillars in Mexico City, the General Directorate of Technical Secondary Education, as well as with the electoral institutes of entities such as Querétaro, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Quintana Roo and San Luis Potosí.
