IECM receives Gold Certificate for equal and non-discriminatory work

To guarantee in its processes the equal treatment, incorporate the gender perspective in them, in addition to preventing and addressing workplace violence, the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) celebrated that it is the first body in the country to obtain the Gold Level Certification in Equality at Work y No Discrimination.

The IECM explained that it complies with the Mexican Standard NMX-R-025-SCFI-2015which establishes the requirements for all workplaces to apply mechanisms that favor the comprehensive development of their staff, through practices of labor equality and non-discrimination, which is promoted by the National Institute of Women, the Secretariat of the Job y Social Securityand the National Council for the Prevention of Discrimination.

To achieve this level, the body noted that it is necessary to comply with a policy of labor equality and non-discrimination, in addition to having a group that guarantees the development and implementation of such practices, as well as a recruitment process that grants equal opportunities.

For this certification, it is necessary to carry out an audit to verify that the requirements are met. established practices and an evaluation of the work environment and non-discrimination among its workers.

As part of their good practices, The local Electoral Institute also has the figure of the Ombudsperson, which is awarded as an honorary award to personnel who work and are responsible for providing first aid to victims of workplace violence, harassment and/or sexual harassment.

During the sixth ordinary session of the Standing Committee on Gender Equality y Human Rights It was reported that the assignment of those serving as Ombudsperson is about to conclude, so the IECM launched the call for those wishing to participate in this role.
At least four women and men are selected for the Ombudsperson position, with the task of assisting people who consider they have suffered workplace violence, sexual harassment and/or bullying, providing them with relevant, complete, clear and precise information, so that they can make an informed decision regarding the avenues available to them to address what happened.
