African Deployment of the Navy: the Gulf of Guinea as a strategic objective of Spain.- Guillermo Talavera Cejudo

This study analyzes the work carried out by the Navy units deployed in the Gulf of Guinea within the initiative of the so-called Coordinated Maritime Presences (PMC) of the European Union. To this end, the three strategic dimensions that make up the objective of this operation for Spain are described: the military, diplomatic-political and civil-communicative dimensions. On the other hand, the flexibility provided by the strictly national nature of the mission is studied, without forgetting the coordination tasks carried out with European countries. To conclude, we try to determine the potential advantages and disadvantages of the current approach to the operation.
