China, an intelligence of “everything at a hundred”? – Manuel Ramírez Benavente

President Xi Jinping’s objective of placing China in a more preeminent position on the world stage involves promoting technological development, which has an important application in the field of intelligence. An example of a Chinese technological initiative applied to intelligence would be the balloons detected flying over several American countries in February 2023. In addition, China has a very important intelligence culture that is rooted in its population. That is why it also relies on its diaspora to obtain human intelligence and uses Chinese companies located in other countries, news agencies or banks to cover this type of activities. For Beijing, the data provided individually by a banker, journalist, scientist or student may be of little interest, but if the contributions of thousands of them are added together and analyzed by an expert, the information obtained can be valuable.
