Interaction of the great powers in East Asia (1): USA, the PRC and India.- David García Cantalapiedra

The key role of the United States in the dispute over Taiwan is the greatest example that the action of the powers in East Asia is essential for the region, first of all because it is marked by the global geopolitics of our days: the strategic rivalry between China and the United States. In it, the Americans are betting on alliances such as the AUKUS, the Quad or the Economic Framework for the Indo-Pacific. A policy attached to the technological and military superiority that the United States still maintains over China.

For its part, China advocates a new international order different from the liberal one that emerged after World War II, with ideas and initiatives that introduce new narratives into the international community, especially attractive to countries in the Global South, even if it is accompanied by debt problems. externally within the framework of investments and loans of the Belt and Road Initiative. India, a power traditionally not aligned in bloc politics and that has been oriented toward its immediate neighborhood, seems willing to be a relevant actor in the region, but will it manage to be autonomous or will it be dragged down by the Sino-North American rivalry?
