Lebanon: Time.news of a perpetual conflict? (reissue).- Pedro Sánchez Herráez
Lebanon, once known as the Switzerland of the East, has been plunged into a process of crisis and growing degradation of the quality of life of its inhabitants and of its own viability as a nation for decades.
The particularities and specificities of this small western Mediterranean nation led to the fact that, from the beginning of its journey as an independent country, power in a broad sense —political, social, religious, etc.— was shared among the different denominations recognized in the legislation, and that said distribution be shielded by law.
But nothing is eternal, especially issues related to demography; And so, and in step with the changes, both endogenous and exogenous, a new distribution of these quotas is demanded while the country remains in a perpetual crisis due to the paralysis generated by these disputes.
And while the discussions continue, the Lebanese people are apparently marching towards the abyss.
