Spain in the global network of submarine cables.- Rafael García Pérez
This article studies the Spanish submarine cable network and its connection to global networks. In particular, the profound transformation that the cable sector is currently experiencing in Spain as a consequence of the connection with the new high-capacity cable systems is analyzed. The effects derived from these changes on network security are also examined, given the growing geopolitical competition on the international scene. Finally, we review the regulatory treatment that submarine cables receive in Spain, identifying those areas that must be reinforced.
