The impact of ideology on the Chinese economic model.- María Rodrigo López
Under Xi Jinping’s mandate, the Marxist-Leninist ideology —in its Chinese version— has regained its importance and, consequently, the strategic direction of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has recovered the renewed role of political ideology as a fundamental pillar. on pragmatic politics and economics.
In order to fulfill the “great Chinese dream” and regain its central position in the international order, the CCP must face a series of internal and external challenges that hinder the country’s economic growth. This has led to a change in tactical approach through which the CCP appears to have shelved its “warrior wolf diplomacy.” Now, China needs to buy time to increase its economic and financial resilience and develop its military.
For now, despite the truce we are currently witnessing, it seems clear that the Marxist-Leninist ideology —in its Chinese version— is what will continue to inspire Xi Jinping’s policy.
