The progressive “second wave” in Latin America: Unity or fragmentation?.- Harold Bertot Triana
The paper analyzes the current map of the left in the frameworks of governance in Latin America. In this sense, it describes the fragmentation of these political forces and how it impacts on political and geopolitical programs. With reference to the so-called first cycle progressive, within the framework of 21st century socialism, the similarities and differences are compared with the current stage of the political processes identified as left. In this order, the existing obstacles to overcome their divergences and reach common positions at the regional level are argued. This reality in turn affects the inability to relaunch forums and regional agreement schemes that allow Latin America to act as a bloc vis-à-vis other international actors.
