In June 2022, Spain hosted one of the most important summits in the history of NATO, both because of the weight and importance of the decisions that were made, and because of the political context in which it took place. The meeting of the leaders of the Alliance was held at a crucial moment for the security of the Euro-Atlantic area. The brutal invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, in addition to creating unspeakable human suffering and destruction in Ukraine, has increased global insecurity and instability, openly defying the principles that underpin European security and seriously undermining public order. standards-based international But the allies proved to be up to the task.
