Islamabad:

Cricket matches between India and Pakistan have a large fan base around the world. Great anticipation will arise among the fans especially if the two teams clash in the World Cup. In this situation, the Indian team led by MS Dhoni played against Pakistan in the semi-finals of the 2011 World Cup.

Pakistan lost the match by 29 runs. After this, India defeated Sri Lanka in the final to win the World Cup after 28 years. Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar did not feature in the match due to fitness. Akhtar said Pakistan would have beaten India if he had been given a chance in the match.

Shoaib Akhtar said: –

The performance of the Pakistan team in the semi-finals of the 2011 World Cup was unjust. I know that only the last 2 matches of my cricket journey are left. So I wished I could win the World Cup and get the answer. But the team management did not give me a chance due to fitness.

Maybe if I had played in the semi-final I would have definitely got Sachin and Sehwag out and gifted defeat to India. But without me Pakistan would have failed. It was painful to watch that game. So was my country.

Thus said Shoaib Akhtar.
