jpnn.comJAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad admitted that he did not know that demonstrators rejecting the Regional Election Bill (RUU) were being sought in the area in front of the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (22/8).

Dasco claimed that he would meet the demonstrators if they wanted to meet the Gerindra Daily Chair.

“I don’t know if he’s being looked for, if I knew, I would meet him to explain,” he said, Thursday.

However, Dasco said, several legislators had met with the masses and explained that the Pilkada Bill would not be passed in the Plenary Session.

“Earlier, my friends met with representatives to state that there is no Pilkada Bill,” he said.

It is known that the DPR through Baleg on Wednesday (21/8) agreed that the Pilkada Bill could be taken to the next level after being agreed by eight parties, namely Golkar, Gerindra, PAN, Demokrat, PKB, PKS, NasDem, and PPP.

The plenary meeting was held after Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad sent a letter numbered B/9825/LG.01.02/08/2024 to Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, and Minister of Law and Human Rights Supratman Andi Agtas.

Only the PDI Perjuangan rejected the Pilkada Bill in a meeting at the Baleg level because the regulation contradicts the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad responded to the students’ desire to meet him to discuss the Regional Election Bill. This is what he said.
