Tirupur: The Tirupur North Transport Department has announced that the parents or guardians will be fined 25,000 rupees and imprisoned for three years if children drive without a driver’s license. Accidents are increasing due to school students driving two-wheelers in violation of the rules. As many people die in school-age accidents, the Tirupur North District Transport Department has issued a new notice. According to Section 199A of the Amended Motor Vehicle Act, 2019, if a driver or a person drives a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, the parents or guardians of minors will be fined 25 A notice board has been placed in the main city area saying that a fine of one thousand rupees will be imposed and 3 years imprisonment is certain. Similarly, the vehicle will be canceled from running on the road for 12 months. It has been announced that the children who drove the vehicle will not be able to get any kind of driving license until they reach the age of 25. Tirupur is the second most two-wheeler city after Chennai. On average, 30 accidents and three deaths occur on Tirupur roads every day due to narrow roads and traffic jams. Especially, school going students are also driving vehicles in violation of the rules.

According to the Traffic Act, only persons above the age of 18 should drive vehicles. After getting proper training, apply at RTO offices and get driving license. There are various restrictions to follow the traffic rules. However, some of the students studying in schools in Tirupur go to and from school on two-wheelers. They are driving vehicles without proper training, traffic rules, and accidents caused by speeding. In congested areas, up to three people are traveling on two-wheelers at high speed, ignoring the traffic rules and without proper safety.
