The decisive meeting is with GERB today, but Borisov has already refused support
16 deputies will still be needed by ITN to form a government with the third mandate, if it receives a firm “yes” from PP-DB. This became clear after the next consultations held by Slavi Trifonov’s party on Friday. They were found to have no “irreconcilable differences” with PP-DB, but with “Vazrazhdane” they have exactly such.
“The conversation was constructive, we have some overlap, the difference is in the details. We will familiarize our collective bodies with all the information and nuances”, explained Bozhidar Bojanov from PP-DB. However, they heard criticism from ITN for the hasty anti-corruption changes and the plan to merge the special services.
And after 2 and a half hours of mutually pointing out their many points of contact, in the end ITN never received support from “Vazrazhdane”. The reason – the votes of the breakaways from the DPS. “The future of Bulgaria must be determined by parties in which representatives of GERB and DPS do not participate”, stressed Kostadin Kostadinov.
At the moment, ITN has 66 deputies with the BSP and with the independents around Nikolay Markov and around Jevdet Chakarov. Even if they receive permission from their national authorities, there are 39 PP-DBs. Thus, the majority collects 105 votes instead of the required 121.
“GERB can act responsibly and have a government,” said the head of the ITN group, Toshko Yordanov. And he wondered whether Borisov’s party “will have a statesmanlike approach, or whether it will send the country to elections.”
Saturday will be the last meeting – with GERB. Until now, Borissov has stated categorically several times that he will not support a government with another mandate. “There are such collisions in all parties that I can’t see anything stable,” he commented on Friday.
He defined as a hypothesis whether he would provide support if Rosen Zhelyazkov was proposed for prime minister, as was the case in the first term. “The question is not just to elect someone, but what kind of majority will gather to be stable and govern for 4 years. At the moment, such a majority without “Vazrazhdane”, without half of the DPS, will not be stable,” said Borisov. And he explained that Delyan Peevski and Kostadin Kostadinov had already voted together, with Kiril Petkov, for the commission for the mayor of Dospat, which made a new majority in this parliament.
“The traffic police are fighting a lot now. There was DPS and DPS-1948, I say it with humor. There is no good DPS, there are good Muslims”, he interrupted, however, and again said that he would not form a coalition with the movement.
