Sarjis Alam, the coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, said, “If someone wants to mourn and give flowers at Dhanmondi number 32, we cannot stop them from our place.” It is his personal matter.

He said this to reporters in front of Amar Ekushey Hall of Dhaka University on Friday (August 16) morning.

Sarzis said, “We have noticed from our place that there have been many undesirable incidents in Dhanmondi 32 and in different parts of Dhaka city, which do not go with the spirit of our popular uprising.” This is not at all in line with the Bangladesh we expect.

He said, “We have seen viral videos of people of my father’s age being dragged by the ears, stripped.” People are saying whatever they want, many people’s phones are being checked. I saw a man of my mother’s age being laid hands on. I have witnessed attacks on journalists. Many such unexpected events have happened.

We are looking to see if we have any coordinators or co-coordinators associated with them. A clear decision from our side, we will expel him from the committee if we find him involved in these activities based on the evidence.

He further said that we will act as a pressure group to take legal action against those who have exaggerated the incidents. By law because they violated human rights.
