/ Real Madrid plans to contact Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe in the first week of January to see if he is still ready to move to the Merengues at the end of the current season, after his contract with the French giant expires, according to a report by the Spanish newspaper Marca.
According to the newspaper report, the Blancos management will repeat the approach it did when it signed the Austrian defender, David Alaba, whom it contacted 6 months before the end of his contract with Bayern Munich.
It is noteworthy that any player in his final year with his team becomes able to negotiate starting in January, to move at the end of the season.
No obstacles, no excuses
The newspaper explained that if the general manager of Real Madrid receives a positive response from Mbappe’s mother and agent, Faiza Lamari, or from the player himself, the “Meringue” management will seek to complete the deal “officially as soon as possible.”
Given that Mbappe will be able to sign with any team from January, he will have no excuses for agreeing to join Los Blancos in the summer, after his contract with his current club, Paris Saint-Germain, expires.
The newspaper reported that “the contract documents are ready and awaiting personal signatures since mid-May 2022,” when the two parties reached an agreement on the terms, which the striker later refused to sign.
Real Madrid appear willing to maintain the same terms previously agreed, including a net annual salary of €26 million (more than $28 million) and a signing bonus of €130 million (around $144 million).
The newspaper stressed that Real Madrid “is not thinking of reducing these amounts,” despite previous reports that this is possible, especially since these conditions are consistent with the salary structure that the club maintains carefully, to avoid unfair comparisons between players’ salaries that may later generate tensions and sensitive situations inside the locker room.
Of course, Mbappe will be the highest paid player on the team and in the history of Spanish football, given his status as the best player in the world, but without major differences with the important players in the royal team.
If Mbappe ends up signing for Real Madrid, he will have given up a lot of temptations, including a high salary that he will receive and that could increase if he renews for another season with Paris Saint-Germain.
It is noteworthy that many observers stated that this is the “last chance” that the French national team captain will have to join Real Madrid, considering that the royal club’s management will not accept a repeat of the past scenario, when the player refused to sign the contract offered to him about a year and a half ago.
