Power Outage Criticism in Metropolitan Region
Manuel Monsalve, Undersecretary of the Interior, expressed harsh criticism towards ENEL following a technical meeting regarding power outages in the Metropolitan Region. Despite a commitment to restore electricity to 60,000 users, only 26,700 users had their power restored.
Monsalve highlighted the unfulfilled commitments made by ENEL, stating that the situation was “ineffective” and “indignant.” He questioned the company’s effectiveness, claiming that their actions fell far short of expectations.
The Undersecretary also expressed dissatisfaction with the company’s response to customer inquiries. He revealed that 50% of people who attempted to contact ENEL by phone between Friday and Sunday received no response, calling this an “unacceptable” situation that requires serious sanctions.
