Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday once again targeted the BJP over a comment made by Kangana Ranaut. Kharge alleged that the ruling party has an anti-farmer hateful mentality in its veins. The government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is against the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP). The Congress said that if the BJP does not agree with her statement, then why does it not expel her from the party?

Kangana had said on Tuesday that the agricultural laws that have been repealed should be brought back. I think this can be controversial. The laws should be brought back in the interest of the farmers. The farmers themselves should demand this, so that there is no hindrance to their prosperity. However, the BJP has distanced itself from her statement and said that this is her personal opinion. After this, Kangana also apologized for her statement. Kharge posted on ‘X’ that even after the martyrdom of 750 farmers, the anti-farmer BJP and Modi government did not realize their grave crime. There is talk of re-implementing the three anti-farmer black laws. The Congress party strongly opposes this.

Modi government broke 3 promises
Kharge said that in 10 years, the Modi government has broken three promises made to the farmers of the country. These three promises were to double the income of farmers by 2022, implement cost and 50 percent MSP as per Swaminathan report and give legal status to MSP. He alleged that the government committee announced by Modi while withdrawing the farmers’ movement is still in cold storage. He claimed that the Modi government is against the legal guarantee of MSP.

Agricultural laws were repealed
Following protests by farmers, the three farm laws – the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act; the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act – were repealed in November 2021. The farmers’ protest began in late November 2020 and ended after Parliament repealed the three laws. These laws came into force in June 2020 and were repealed in November 2021.
